Divided Allegiance

The fruitlessness of wanting:
"Well, I didn't come to bring you happiness-"
I could cry til the sun rises, idolatry is nice!
"I came here to divide
Brothers and sisters,
Mothers and fathers."
Maybe I just need to yell a little louder,
Pound at the door 'til it cracks.
I could crack your conscience.
I could break your patience.
Oh, won't you be mine?
You could be my little one!
I could hold you in my arms
Singing you all my self-indulgent songs!
"Turn all your smiles to frowns
All your laughing to tears,
Your house is coming tumbling down."
I just need to try a little longer.

PS: Christ isn't Santa Claus. He didn't come to make you happy.
